The world “licorice” refers to the root from the plant Glycyrrhiza glabra which is native Origins from Europe and Asia, with the Egyptians being one of the first to use it in tea as a cure-all concoction.
Licorice root is used to soothe gastrointestinal problems, restore balance to cases of food poisoning, stomach ulcers and heartburn, and can help the body produce healthy mucus when used as an oral supplement. It is recommended to treat respiratory problems, as well as help to relieve the adrenal gland which can become exhausted from regularly producing adrenaline and cortisol.
